Nairobi City Stars have moved to within two points of Football Kenya Federation Premier League leaders Kakamega Homeboyz after thrashing Mathare United 3-0 at Thika Stadium on Saturday.
The title-chasing outfit unleashed blazing guns on struggling Mathare in the second half after a slow opening half to bag the tenth win of the season.
City Stars are now only two points behind leaders Homeboyz who face Bidco United on Sunday.
The win pushed Simba wa Nairobi to second on the log with 35 points.
The result on the other hand complicated Mathare's chances of beating the drop as they are now five points adrift of safety.

City Stars took the lead in the 51st minute through an unmarked Lennox Ogutu punished his former employer after rising high to head home a corner kick delivered by Timothy Ouma.
Nicholas Muyoti’s charges would double the lead in the 64th minute through Ezekiel Odera who comfortably tapped in Ouma's cross to put off Mathare's hopes of coming back into the game.
Super sub Nicholas Kipkirui who replaced Odera sealed all the three points five minutes to full time.
The Slum Boys are now winless in their last two games under new coach John Kamau.
The defeat, Mathare’s 15th of the season leaves them 17th on the log with 10 points after 19 matches played.
Elsewhere, Ulinzi Star edged out KCB by a solitary goal to return to winning ways at Kericho Green Stadium.
The soldiers were forced to host their games in Kericho after Nakuru Showground was banned from hosting league matches by FKF caretaker committee.
