Long-serving Football Kenya Federation Premier League goalkeeper Boniface Oluoch has announced his shift of career.

Oluoch remains a safe pair of hands for K’Ogalo despite the emergence of Tanzanian goalkeeper David Mapigano who seems to have been the preferred first-choice custodian.

Oluoch imminently leaves the pitch with his head high after serving the club wholeheartedly.

His exit in the field as a player ushers him to a new role as goalkeeper trainer for K’Ogallo replacing Jerem Onyango who was sent packing last week.

Confirming the development, the club in a statement said Oluoch will be at hand in the team’s selection.

“Bonface Oluoch will be our new goalkeeper trainer on an interim basis; he will also be available for selection,” read the statement.

Oluoch, who has multiple league title winner, signed with the Green Army in 2014 from Tusker and commanded his goal area with utmost authority and undisputed first choice goalkeeper.

Interestingly Oluoch replaced Onyango at the goal when the latter retired from football taking the chance with both hands.

The former KCB and APR shot-stopper started out as a midfielder in his hay days – a position that gave him the much-needed confidence.

Oluoch got a chance to prove himself during the International break when Gor Mahia played Al Ahli of Tripoli.

He would also start between the posts given the absence of Kenya one Arnold Origi in the national team Harambee Stars squad when they faced Cape Verde in 2015.

Meanwhile Gor has also stripped Haron Shakava of his position as captain and instead promoted Philemon Otieno.

“Philemon Otieno to be our new captain moving forward; he will be assisted by Sammy Onyango,” Gor confirmed the changes through their social media platforms.
