Harambee Starlets put their trust in coach Alumira for AWCON duty

Former Vihiga Queens tactician Alex Lusioli Alumira is the new Harambee Starlets head coach.
This follows his appointment yesterday in Nairobi by the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Caretaker Committee led by Justice Aaron Ringera (Rtd).
“This is a worthy challenge I’m happy to undertake. I’m here to guide the team to greater heights,” Alumira told Standard Sports.
“I feel honoured to be entrusted with the national team. We are going to put in a lot of work in our preparations to get the desired results.”
“I look forward to performing my national duties with great confidence because of the full support I have been assured by the committee,” he said.

The 39-year-old will be assisted by former Starlets full back Anne Aluoch and midfielder Benta Achieng.
Martha Karemi, a former Starlets midfielder, will be the Team Manager.
Alumira takes over from former Starlets coach Charles Okere.
He has the daunting task of taking Starlets to the 2022 Africa Women Cup of Nations (AWCON) in Morocco.
Starlets enter camp on Tuesday ahead of their qualifying fixtures against Uganda on February 16.
The return leg of the crunch tie is slated for Nairobi on February 23 where the aggregate winner will the punch a ticket to Morocco.
The Morocco AWCON will also act as a qualifier for the women’s World Cup to be staged next year.
“Kenya has a great chance of making it to AWCON. With great support from the Caretaker Committee, I’m confident we shall deliver,” Alumira said.
Alumirah plans to build the team around his coaching philosophy which reads: “Women football is about learning. Coaching women football is about teaching both by action and by example.
I coach women football to challenge players to develop life skills, ethics and moral awareness, and fitness knowledge.”
Ringera said Alumira’s contract will run until early May. While explaining how the interview for the position was done, Caretaker Committee member John Bobby Ogola said 12 tacticians were shortlisted, before they were trimmed to four.
