Mwana Yema scored a brace as Kakamega Homeboyz came from a goal down to defeat KCB 3-2 in a five-goal Football Kenya Federation Premier League match played at the Kasarani Annex on Sunday.

Baraka Badi gave KCB the lead in the opening 15 minutes of the match before Yema ensured Homeboyz went to the break tied at 1-1 after netting four minutes to half time.

In the second half, Estone Esiye gave the visitors the lead with Yema completing his brace later on before a Collins Odhiambo own-goal gifted the bankers a late consolation goal.

Victory saw the Kakamega based club open a five-point gap at the summit as they lead the 18-clubs log with 31 points.

The bankers on the other hand dropped to fourth after suffering their third defeat of the season.

KCB are fourth on 25 points after being leapfrogged by Gor Mahia and Nairobi City Stars who won their respective matches FC Talanta and Tusker respectively.

The win was Homeboyz’s ninth of the season as they attempt to break the Gor Mahia-Tusker decade dominance in the league where Gor has won seven titles and Tusker four.

In the match, KCB took the lead in the 13th minute through Baraka Badi who sent the ball into the net from the spot after the referee gave a penalty when Godfrey Oputi brought down Henry Onyango in the box.

Yema equalized for Homeboyz in the 41st minute after numerous attempts to tie the scores at 1-1 heading into the break.

In the final half, Esiye struck a free kick outside the box to double the lead for Homeboyz before Yema made it 3-1.

Odhiambo headed into his own net with four minutes left on the clock to give KCB hopes of salvaging a point but that would not happen as Homeboyz held on to register their second straight win since their defeat to Talanta two weeks ago.
