Kakamega Homeboyz reclaimed the lead atop the FKF Premier League standings after bouncing bounced back to winning ways after their 11- match unbeaten run was halted by FC Talanta last week.

Homeboyz edged out Kariobangi Sharks 1-0 to open a three point gap in the standings with 28 points collected after 13 rounds of matches played in the 2021-2022 season.

This is after KCB lost ground on Homeboyz after losing their second match of the season in a 1-0 defeat to Bidco United.

The bankers are now second with 25 points, three more than Nairobi City Stars who edged Talanta. Bandari are fourth also with 23 points.

Gor Mahia ended their four match winless run with 1-0 win over Mathare United on Sunday.

In the past four matches, K’Ogalo recorded a barren draw against Bandari, a 2-1 loss to Kakamega Homeboyz, a 2-0 loss to Nairobi City Stars and 1-1 draw against Nzoia Sugar.

The win saw the record champions revive their title push since with a game in hand; K’Ogalo can cut the gap between them and leaders Homeboyz to three points. Gor are fifth with 22 points.

The Slum Boys on the other hand lost their 10th match of the campaign and remain second from bottom on seven points.

At the same time, newly promoted Vihiga Bullets long wait for their first win came in the 13th round as they thrashed Wazito 4-2 in Kakamega.

Inspired by Mike Esabwa’s hat trick, Bullets are now four points away from safety and a win against Bandari in their next game would lift them out of the bottom zone.

Though still rocked at the bottom, the win took their points tally to five, two shy of Mathare United who are 17th on the log.

Meanwhile, defending champions Tusker inconsistency continued on Sunday after they lost their fifth game of the season.

Tusker lost 1-0 to Posta Rangers, a result that leaves them 11th in the log with 16 points, 12 points behind leaders Homeboyz.

Despite carrying a two-match advantage, the brewers have to dig deep to turn around their season.
