Tusker, Gor Mahia seek redemption as KCB host Nzoia Sugar

Defending champions Tusker and Gor Mahia will be seeking to bounce back to winning ways after failing to win their last matches when they take on Mathare United and Nairobi City Stars respectively in their midweek FKF Premier League matches on Thursday.

Tusker FC defender Christopher Oruchum has thrown the challenge back at himself and teammates to ensure the team pulls itself out from the difficult start to the season.

The team lost 1-0 away to Kakamega Homeboyz last Thursday in a match that they had given their all to win but fell short.

Ahead of Thursday afternoon’s game at Ruaraka against Mathare United, the defender says it is high time the team recollects itself to move back on track.

“I think it is time for us players to come back together, recollect ourselves and think of a good way to pull ourselves back on top. We need to be the proactive side now because where the team is demands us to work harder to pull up,” said the defender.

“In as much as we have some games in hand, we have to ensure we bag the points.”

Looking back to the game against Homeboyz, Oruchum was heartbroken with the result.

“It is really a bitter pill to swallow because we were buoyed for that match and we knew a win would have given us momentum. We didn’t handle the match well especially the first quarter. We had agreed to be really concentrated and focused in the first 15 minutes because of the fatigue coming off travels and all, but we failed to do so.”

“As much as it is a bitter pill to swallow we need to bounce back as a team.”

At Kasarani Annex, Gor will be seeking to bounce back to winning ways after failing to win their last two matches - a barren draw against Bandari on December 12 and 2-1 loss to Kakamega Homeboyz on December 18.
