Tusker ended their four-match winless run in all competitions after narrowly edging out relegation threatened Nzoia Sugar 1-0 in a FKF Premier League match played on Saturday at Sudi Stadium in Bungoma County.

Ugandan international Deogratious Ojok scored the lone goal in the 24th minute of the first half to hand Robert Matano his third win of the campaign.

Ojok’s goal was also the first the club had scored since November 3 when they defeated Kenya Police 2-1.

The brewers were on a four match winless run where they failed to score including during the two-leg Caf Confederations Cup assignments where they were eliminated on a 1-0 aggregate score by CS Sfaxien of Tunisia.

Previously, the 13-time Kenyan champions had lost 3-0 to Kariobangi Sharks and drew 0-0 against Tusker in their last two league matches.

Victory propelled Matano’s charges out of the relegation zone to 12th on the log with 10 points but with three games in hand. The champions are 11 points behind league leaders KCB.
