Nzoia Sugar register first league win as City Stars dim Mathare

Nzoia Sugar registered their first win of the season after beating Kariobangi Sharks 3-1 in a FKF Premier League match played at Sudi Stadium yesterday.

Levis Barasa scored a hat-trick to inspire the sugarmen to victory with Geoffrey Shivega netting the consolation goal for Sharks.

Barasa gave the hosts the lead after 10 minutes before Shark’s Shiveka restored parity from the penalty spot in the 22nd minute as the match went to the break tied at 1-1.

In the second half, Barasa restored Nzoia’s one goal advantage six minutes after the restart before sealing the win with his first hat-trick of the campaign.

The win moved Nzoia out of the drop zone to 16th with six points.

In Nairobi, Kakamega Homeboyz went top of the FKF Premier League standings despite playing out to a 0-0 draw against Bidco United.

In other matches, Kenya Police held Wazito to a 1-1 draw in the other match as Nairobi City Stars defeated Mathare United 2-0.

Peter Opiyo scored a first half brace to lead City Stars to their fifth win of the campaign and joint second in the log with 17 points same as K’Ogalo.
