Football Kenya Federation Caretaker Committee will jointly host the upcoming Caf Confederation Cup with Gor Mahia, the FKF Secretariat said on Wednesday.

The communication comes amid confusion that aroused on Tuesday when embattled FKF CEO Barry Otieno said they are not in a position to organise the upcoming Caf Confederation Cup second leg play-off fixture between Gor Mahia and AS Otoho d'Oyo to be played on December 5.

Otieno wrote a letter to Gor Mahia and Caf explaining why the recent disbandment by the Ministry of Sports led by Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed, will not allow them to take charge of the return leg fixture set for Nyayo Stadium.

Two weeks ago, Amina dissolved the federation led by Nick Mwendwa and appointed a caretaker committee headed by retired Justice Aaron Ringera. The government also moved to bar federation officials from accessing their offices at Kandanda House.

However, an official at the FKF Secretariat revealed to the Standard Sports that Caf has given a go head of the match to be hosted joint by the Caretaker Committee and Gor.

“We are looking forward to December 5 where the Committee will liaise with Gor as a club to ensure smooth running of operations when Oto arrives until they leave. There is nothing to worry,” said the official who declined to be named.

Match officials from Somalia have already been appointed including Hassan Hagi who will be the center referee.

Gor Mahia are scheduled to depart for Congo Brazzaville on Friday in readiness for their first leg meeting set for Stade Alphonse Massamba-Debat on Sunday before the return leg in Nairobi.

The Secretariat also said fans will be allowed into the stadium at Nyayo.

Tusker are Kenya’s other representatives in the Confederation Cup and they will start their campaign with a home game against CS Sfaxien of Tunisia at Nyayo Stadium on Sunday before the return leg at Stade Taieb Mhiri on December 5 in Tunis.
