Escalators FC beat Dagoretti North Hot Stars FC  4-2 on post-match penalties to lift the Community and Relations Foundation Peace Cup at Gatina Primary School, in Kawangware, over the weekend.

Felix Stero, Collins Gibole, Kevin Roro and Tyson Onyali converted their spot-kicks for Escalators FC.

Only Mark Ojode’s effort went wide. Derrick Ochieng and Fredrick Omolo scored for Dagoreti North, while Martin Inganji, Ache Lumumba and Antony Murithi failed to hit their targets.

Ahead of the crunch final played on the dusty Gatina School playgrounds, Dagoretti North edged out  Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) FC 5-4 on post-match penalties in the semis. Both sides had tied 1-1 in regulation.

Escalators FC had a walkover in the semis against Kenya Police FC, who travelled to Kakamega for their opening Kenyan Premier League tie against Kakamega Homeboyz FC at Bukhungu Stadium, yesterday.

The community policing event, whose theme was “Shaping Peace Together”, was supported by legendary athlete Tegla Loroupe and Kenya Academy of Sports.

“Peace is very important especially now that we are headed for the general elections,” said Loroupe in a statement read by her aid, Naomi Kiprotich.

The two-day peace initiative saw participants discuss ways through which they can live in harmony.

The program” brought together six guest speakers including; Tegla Loroupe (Peace ambassador), Antony Kamitu (Commissioner of Police), Daniel Juma (Executive Director Global Peace Foundation Kenya), Hitan Majevdia (Nairobi County Health Officer), Doreen Odhiambo (CEO Kenya Academy of Sports) and Dennis Wendo (CEO Integrated Development Network).
