Vihiga Queens to face Ulinzi Starlets in FKF Women’s Cup finals

Vihiga Queens will renew their rivalry with Ulinzi Starlets in the final of Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Women's Cup.

Janet Bundi scored a brace while Jentrix Shikangwa converted a penalty as Vihiga knocked out Kayole Starlets 3-0 in the semifinals.

Neddy Akoth scored a hat-trick as Ulinzi Starlets came from behind to beat Kisumu Allstarlets 4-2 in the other semifinal match played at the Moi Stadium, Kisumu.

Neddy Akoth opened the scores for Ulinzi Starlets as she sent the ball to the back of the net in the 32nd minute before Kisumu equalizd moments laterto tie the scores at 1-1 by half-time.

Monica Etot gave the hosts a temporary lead before Ulinzi sealed their finals spot through goals from Lucy Mukhwana and captain Akoth.

Vihiga Queens will now meet with Ulinzi in the finals set to be the curtain raiser for the 2021-2022 FKF Women’s Premier League season.

The new season will kick off on October 30.

The top tier will be a unified 12-team league unlike in the past where it was played in zonal format, Zones A and B of eight teams each.

The end-season play-offs to determine the league champion which also involved six teams, three from each zone, have also been scrapped in the unified format. 

The team with most points at the end of the season will be declared champions in this league that will be played in home and away format.
