Harambee Stars coach Mulee eyes win over Uganda in World Cup qualifiers

Harambee Stars coach Jacob Mulee will be seeking to kick off the 2022 World Cup qualifiers on a high note as they host Uganda Cranes on Thursday.
Kenya are in Group E against Mali, Rwanda and Uganda and Mulee is hoping for a bright start to the qualifiers which will be at Nyayo Stadium behind closed doors.
Speaking to the Standard Sports, Mulee said the game will be an open match where Kenya has to work hard and get maximum points for them to have an advantage going forward.
“My main goal is to get to the Qatar but we have to start with the group games. It is a huge responsibility but I believe we can make it.”
“We respect Uganda and know that head to head they have an advantage but we need to collect all three points to get off on a high note. We need to start righting our own history from today,” said Mulee.

Qatar based striker Michael Olunga will captain the team in the absences of Victor Wanyama once again.
Olunga who has scored twice against the neighbours (2015 and 2017) said team work and resilience will be key during the match.
He said they have had good preparations and they are ready to go.
“We know it will be a very tough match against Uganda who have been our rivals for many years within the East African region.”
“However, we are hosts and we have to show that through playing well. I believe every player in the camp have the ability to perform well and help Kenya win today,” said Olunga.
