Western Stima were on Wednesday relegated to the National Super League after losing 1-0 to Wazito at ASK Showground in Nakuru.

Erick Otieno’s 76th-minute goal condemned the troubled Kisumu based club to the lower tier league next season after both Vihiga United and Mathare United registered massive wins.

Vihiga United thrashed rivals Kakamega Homeboyz 3-1 to avoid the drop but will now play in the relegation playoffs with the third best-ranked team from the Super League.

Frank Ouna completed his mission to rescue Mathare United from the drop as the Slum Boys are now safe after playing bottom for the majority part of the season.

10-men Mathare United defeated Ulinzi Stars 1-0 courtesy of James Mwangi’s ninth-minute strike to seal their fate of playing in the top league next season.

Mathare are 15 in the log with 27, one point above Vihiga United (played all their matches) in the playoffs spot as Stima occupy the bottom position with 22 points.

Other results saw Bidco United narrowly edged out 10-men Kariobangi Sharks 1-0 at Thika Stadium as defending champions Gor Mahia returned to winning ways after defeating Posta Rangers with a similar scoreline in Ruaraka.

Alex Keke’s first-half goal was enough to hand Anthony Akhulia’s men important three points that saw them close on the top four clubs as Sammy Onyango handed Englishman Mark Harrison his second win at Gor.

Bidco are now eighth in the standings with 44 points, three points off the top four teams as Sharks on the other hand remain fifth in the log with 47 points after failing to score despite the presence of the league’s top scorer Erick Kapaito (24 goals).

For K’Ogalo, the victory takes them to joint sixth with Nairobi City Stars on 45 points.

Rangers remain 13th in the log with 36 points and safe from the relegation battle.

Western Stima was relegated to the Super League after losing to Wazito as Mathare Vihiga win to stay safe.

Three red cards were witnessed in midweek matches as the new FKF-PL champion set to be decided on Saturday.
