Vihiga United on Friday defeated title hopefuls KCB 2-1 to revive their hopes of surviving relegation in a FKF Premier League match played in Mumias.

Stewart Omondi man of the match performance saw Vihiga come back from behind to collect three massive points that saw them get out of the bottom of the table.

Samuel Mwangi had given the bankers an early lead before two quickfire goals by Vihiga earned them a much-needed win.

The victory saw Vihiga temporarily get out of the bottom of the standings to 16th with 23 points, a point more than Western Stima who have a game in hand.

In the loss, KCB’s title charge was dealt with a major blow as they remain second with 58 points, three points behind Tusker who defeated Kakamega Homeboyz 2-0 in Nairobi.

Despite the Friday results, the title race is still early to call with two matches remaining before the end of the season. The bankers and the brewers have been shifting positions at the top.

The remaining two fixtures are also close to call as Tusker have a date with Nzoia Sugar and newbies Bidco United while KCB face top four contender AFC Leopards and league returnees Nairobi City Stars.
