The fight to avoid relegation from the Football Kenya Federation Premier League will go down to the wire with three clubs fighting to avoid the drop with three matches left till the season ends.

Mathare United, Western Stima and Vihiga United are all fighting to stay up with two points separating them.

Vihiga are bottom of the log with 20 points, two points behind Stima who occupy the relegation playoff spot with 22 points.

Mathare United are above Stima in 15th position and two points above the drop zone with 24 points.

The Slum Boys three-match winning ran saw the 2008 champions rise from their ruins in a push to avoid the drop.

The other closest team, Nzoia Sugar who are 14th in the log, sealed their spot in the top flight league next season after defeating Wazito 2-1.

The Sugar men are now five-seven points above the danger zone with 29 points.

Vihiga (20 points) and Western Stima (22 points) can hit a maximum points tally of 26 and 28 respectively if they win their two remaining matches which means they cannot leapfrog Nzoia.

Vihiga and Stima have also played a game more than Mathare.

Mathare have an advantage where if they win their game in hand they will automatically remain safe and the battle for survival will see Vihiga battle Stima.
