KCB moved to the helm of the FKF Premier League standings after completing a league double over Western Stima in their solid 2-0 win at Moi Stadium in Kisumu on Wednesday.

Derrick Otanga brace saw the bankers not only bounce back to winning ways but also leapfrog Tusker to top the log with 57 points as the race for the title continues to heat up.

The bankers headed to the match in the wake of their shocking 2-0 loss at the hands of Posta Rangers and they needed a swift response to remain in contention of winning the premier league title for the first time in the clubs history.

KCB are now two points clear above Tusker who dropped to second place after losing 2-1 at the hands of Bandari in Mombasa.

Defender Rodgers Aloro had given the 2016 champions a narrow 1-0 lead at the breather before a second half comeback initiated by Hassan Abdallah was completed by veteran striker John Mwita.

The win propelled Bandari to eighth with 43 points as Tusker registered their second consecutive defeat.

The brewers have now gone three matches without a win and will now have to respond when they play Sofapaka next.

Four matches are remaining till the end of the 2021 campaign and KCB and Tusker are the only two clubs remaining in the fight to displace record champions Gor Mahia as the new champions.
