Kenya edge South Sudan to reach semis

Kenya U23 side Emerging Stars qualified for the semifinals after defeating South Sudan 2-0 in the Cecafa Under-23 Championship final pool match played in Bahir, Ethiopia on Wednesday.

KCB youngster Reagan Otieno gave Kenya the lead after scoring in the 51st minute before super sub Benson Omala doubled the scores in 79th minute.

This was Otieno and Omala's second goals of the tournament after scoring in the 3-0 win over minnows Djibouti in Kenya's opening match on Sunday.

The win saw Emerging Stars top Group C on maximum six points.

Kenya will now meet Group B leaders in the semifinals.

Burundi tops the group on three points after a 1-0 win over Eritrea on Tuesday. Ethiopia and Eritrea have one point each after a 3-3 draw in the opening encounter last Saturday.
