Vihiga Queens players have been urged to invest wisely while still active in football.

While addressing the players at Kenya Institute of Special Education (KISE) where the team is camping ahead the inaugural CAF Women’s Champions League qualifiers cum Cecafa zonal tournament, Vihiga County Governor Dr. Wilber Ottichilo reassured the team of his continued support.

Even though the tournament which was to kick off tomorrow in Nairobi has been postponed indefinitely, the Governor has promised to reward the team with Sh1 million if they win the trophy.

‘While we play football, let’s also explore other investment activities that will generate for us income,” said Ottichilo.

And while clarifying on the status of the women’s tournament,  Cecafa Executive Director Auka Gecheo, said the competition has only been postponed but not cancelled.

“The Cecafa Women Champions League has only been postponed to an unconfirmed date due to some unavoidable reasons,” said Gecheo.
