The battle for the sole 2021-2022 Caf Champions League ticket will be decided on Wednesday when eight-midweek Football Kenya Federation Premier League matches end at 5.30pm East African Time.

League leaders Tusker and second-placed KCB are the two front runners for the continental slot which will be decided after the outcome of their matches against Ulinzi Stars and Nzoia Sugar respectively.

FKF said they will submit the name of Kenya’s representative at next season’s Caf Champions League by the end of Wednesday, June 30, the deadline earlier communicated by Caf.

The 11-time league champions are top of the standings on 44 points, a point above the bankers and they need a win to clinch the ticket.

However, a draw or even a loss will see them through only provided KCB lose their match against Nzoia Sugar and vice versa.

Tusker last featured in the continental club tourney in 2017, while KCB are seeking their maiden appearance in the prestigious championship.

In the meantime, third-placed AFC Leopards will be seeking to continue their good run this season when they face Kariobangi Sharks.

Ingwe revived their title hopes with a hard-fought 2-1 win over Wazito at Utalii last Saturday while Sharks will be aiming to respond after they were humiliated 4-1 by Bandari who face record champions Gor Mahia.

Fourth in the log, Gor will be seeking to return to winning ways when they host the Dockers at Utalii Grounds on Wednesday.

K’Ogalo lost 2-1 to relegation threatened Western Stima last weekend on Saturday.

The result blew away Gor hopes of representing Kenya at the Caf Champions League next season after having participated in the continental event for the last four years.

Other matches will feature Bidco against KK Homeboyz, Western Stima face Sofapaka and Vihiga play Mathare United in Narok.
