NSL: Kisumu All Stars go third as draws dominate Super League

Former Premier League side Kisumu All Stars moved third in the National Super League (NSL) standings after thrashing relegation-threatened Modern Coast Rangers 3-0 over the weekend in Kisumu.

The win saw the Lakeside based team leapfrog MCF, Vihiga Bullets and Shabana into third place in a weekend marked with more than five draws.

All Stars, also known as ‘Otenga’, are now third with 34 points, seven points behind league leaders FC Talanta who were held to a 1-1 stalemate with Migori Youth in Awendo.

The Talanta stalemate was one of the six draws witnessed over the round 22 matches that saw all the four matches played on June 11 finish level.

Vihiga Bullets and Fortune Sacco was the first side to finish in a 1-1 stalemate Musyoki Lucky and Wangui Jacob getting on the scoresheet for the respective clubs in a match played at Bukhungu Stadium.

Relegation bound Mt Kenya United followed suit with another 1-1 draw against MCF as Kisumu Hot Stars winless run stretched to five matches after drawing 1-1 with Kibera Black Stars.

On Saturday, Gusii FC was first to break the winless jinx in the league after edging out Mwatate United 2-1 before Kenya Police and Shabana became the fifth team to register a draw in a 1-1 stalemate.

Muranga Seals became the second team to bag a win in their 3-1 victory over Coast Stima before APS Bomet narrowly edged out bottom-placed Soy United 1-0.

Silibwet held Nairobi Stima to a 1-1 draw to mark the sixth draw in the weekend fixtures.

Despite being held in Migori, Talanta remain top of the log with 41 points followed by Kenya Police with 38 points.

In the relegation zone, Soy United remain rooted at the bottom of the log with 17 points followed by Mt Kenya and Modern Coast with 22 and 23 points respectively.
