Thika and Vihiga Queens secure Women Premier League playoffs

Thika Queens have secured their spot at the 2021 Football Kenya Federation Women Premier League playoffs set for June 19 with one round left to play.

A total of eight teams both from Zone A and Zone B will play in the playoffs with seven teams already assured of their places.

Thika are currently leading the FKF-WPL Zone A standings with 39 points after winning all of their 13 matches played.

They are followed by Gaspo Women who have 28 points as Ulinzi Starlets come in third with 27 points.

Zetech Sparks will join Gaspo, Thika and Ulinzi in the playoffs after amassing 17 points, four points ahead of their closest opponent Kayole Starlet.

In Zone B, defending champions Vihiga Queens are on course of retaining their title with their 37 points ensuring they qualified for the playoffs.

Mumias-based Wadadia and Nakuru Queens are second and third on 25 and 24 points respectively.

The battle for the final spot will be decided on the final day of the regular season with Trans Nzoia Falcons and Kisumu All Starlets the candidates for the spot.

Trans Nzoia are currently fourth with 19 points, two points behind All Starlets.

The semi-finals will be played on June 25 at Nakuru Show Grounds with the finals also at the same venue on June 27.
