NSL: Kisumu Hot Stars sink as Talanta keep lead

Kisumu Hot Stars winless run stretched to four matches after losing 1-0 to visiting Gusii FC over the weekend in the National Super League round of 21 fixtures.

The defeat, Hot Stars 10th of the campaign, saw the lakeside outfit drop to 16th in the standings with 25 points, two points off the relegation zone.

Hot Stars, also known as ‘Opuk’, are tied at 25 points with Nairobi Stima (15th) who edged out MCF 2-0 at Camp Toyoyo to get out of the relegation zone.

Other teams include Coast Stima and Migori Youth who are 13th and 14th respectively with a greater goal difference.

Coast Stima lost 3-2 to APS Bomet while Migori Youth fine run was ended by former Premier League Side Mount Kenya United in a 2-1 defeat in Nairobi.

Soy United remain bottom of the table with 17 points after losing 3-1 to Kisumu All-Stars as Mount Kenya and Modern Coast Rangers occupy the 19th and 18th drop spots each tied on 21 points.

Meanwhile, FC Talanta maintained their place at the summit with a 1-0 win over Kibera Black Stars.

The win saw them open a three-point lead over second-placed Kenya Police who were held to a 1-1 draw by Fortune Sacco.

Shabana FC trounced Vihiga Bullets 4-1 in Awendo to move third in the standings with 33 points, one point above MCF, Vihiga Bullets and Kibera Black Stars.
