Five possible transfer destinations for in-demand Sancho

At times it appeared as though it was a case of when, and not if, Jadon Sancho made the transfer to Manchester United last summer, but almost one year on things have changed.

With United improving under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and the club's former forward seeking to prioritise the development of talents such as Mason Greenwood, a move for Sancho would appear to have been dropped to the back burner, for now at least.

With our colleagues at the Manchester Evening News reporting that Sancho is "no longer a priority" for the Red Devils this summer, plenty of clubs who might well have given up hope of signing the England star are suddenly back in the game.

With Dortmund also fielding enquiries for Erling Haaland then it won't be easy to complete a move, but right now Sancho is a hot property.

Could he make one of these moves this summer?

Liverpool

An ageing forward line in need of a boost, and a club in need of an injection of excitement and possibility for a new campaign in which they'll be seeking to pick up the pieces of the old one.

A move to Anfield seems to tick all the boxes for Sancho.

Depending on what happens in the next couple of weeks he might be joining a club who aren't playing Champions League football next season, but Liverpool will still start the new season expecting to at least be in the top four and confident that they can mount a serious title challenge again providing they keep players fit.

Sancho could be a huge part of that, and if United aren't going to take the plunge on his signature then surely their rivals would love to?

Chelsea

A self-confessed Chelsea fan as a kid, as he told The Telegraph in 2019, Sancho might see the Thomas Tuchel project unfolding at Stamford Bridge as being perfect for his development as a player.

Tuchel left Dortmund in 2017, the same summer that Sancho arrived, and so while the pair have no history of working together they are sure to each admire the work that the other has done.

There is of course plenty of competition for places at Chelsea, who could be the European champions by the time they announced any move for Sancho, but the England man would back himself to hold down a place in the team and star in the Premier League.

Things are starting to point towards this being a big summer of change for Tottenham, and even perhaps one in which Harry Kane makes it clear that he sees his future elsewhere.

Boosted by the mega-millions the forward would command, and with Daniel Levy seeking to show Spurs fans that the club mean business, maybe a signing such as Sancho would be the move that would get everyone onside?

Without Kane there would be a vacancy in the running to be considered Tottenham's main man, and out of all of his realistic Premier League suitors then Spurs would surely be the club where he'd be guaranteed to most game-time.

Would that be enough to tempt him though?

Real Madrid

As we all know, finances are an issue at both Barcelona and Real Madrid, but of both of La Liga's premier pair it would appear to be Madrid who have the greater room to freshen things up if they can get a few players to leave.

Gareth Bale is of course one of those, while there are also question marks over the future of the injury-hit Eden Hazard and also stalwarts Sergio Ramos and Marcelo.

Move all of those on and that is a huge chunk of change for some movements in the market, and Sancho would surely fit the bill as an exciting, youthful new addition.

Bayern Munich

Yes they are incredibly well resourced in attacking positions, but there is nothing Bayern like doing more than picking off the best and brightest talents in the Bundesliga.

Again, it would require a player or two moving on, but would you really be that surprised if it happened?

Sancho is sure to come under pressure from Dortmund to transfer outside of Germany should he, as expected, make the move this summer, but would Bayern be too tempting to turn down?
