Football Kenya Federation has confirmed the appointment of Charles Okere as the new Head Coach of the Kenya Women's National Football Team, Harambee Starlets.

A press statement sent to the newsroom on Monday and signed off by Football Kenya Federation CEO Barry Otieno read: "Football Kenya Federation has appointed Charles Okere as the new Head Coach of the Kenya Women's National Football Team, Harambee Starlets.”

“He will be assisted by Godfrey Oduor who is the current KCB Assistant Coach and Mildred Cheche who until her appointment was part of the KCB Technical Bench."

The statement further added that the Tusker FC Assistant Coach Okere takes over from David Ouma who left on mutual consent.

"Coach Okere, whose appointment takes effect immediately will replace David Ouma who has parted ways with the Federation by mutual consent," added the statement.

The changes comes barely three days after Ouma named a new look 30-member squad for the 2022 Africa Women Cup of Nations Qualifiers (AWCON) slated for June.

Okere whose first assignment will be against Zambia's Copper Queens in an away friendly match on April 24 will be assisted by his KCB counterpart Godfrey Oduor and Mildred Cheche.
But Okere knows he has his work cut out as he will have to ensure Kenya qualifies for the 2022 AWCON finals in Morocco.
