Ten-man Rangers beat champions Gor Mahia to pile more pressure on Pinto

Gor Mahia’s dreadful FKF Premier League season continued with a 1-0 defeat to ten-man Posta Rangers in Wednesday's rescheduled match at Kasarani Stadium.
The early sending off of defender Michael Apudo in the third minute following a dangerous tackle on his former K’Ogalo teammate Tito Okello did not stop the mailmen from securing their second win of the campaign.
And it is Francis Nambute’s strike on the stroke of halftime that Rangers needed to inflict a second consecutive defeat on the record champions and consequently hand their new coach Stanley Okumbi his first victory at the club.
The result - Gor’s sixth defeat of the season-saw them remain eighth on the log with 19 points, five ahead of 14th placed Rangers.
In Kericho, bottom-rooted Zoo shared the spoils with Western Stima after their match ended in a goalless draw.

While Okumbi appeared to be in a celebratory mood after the huge win, his Gor Mahia counterpart Carlos Manuel Vaz Pinto was visibly disappointed as pressure continues to mount on the Portuguese following another disjointed performance from his boys.
The Premier League action continues on Thursday with the Slums Derby tie between Mathare United and Kariobangi Sharks at Kasarani Stadium.
The two sides go into the match in contrasting form. While fifth-placed Sharks are currently enjoying a fine run of form, Mathare are second from the bottom after a stuttering start to the season.
But despite their struggles that have been coupled by fixture congestion, Mathare coach Salim Ali is optimistic of a good outing today.
“Though we have not been doing well, I believe this fixture presents us a perfect opportunity to try and turn around our fortunes,’’ said Ali.
“We have been playing on the back foot since the season started trying to catch up with the other teams who have played more matches than us. This has seen us get less time in between games to rest and prepare and it has hampered us.”
