Gaspo, Ulinzi Starlets book spots in FKF Women Cup quarter finals

FKF Women Premier League clubs Gaspo Women, Ulinzi Starlets, Kisumu All Starlets and Kayole Starlets advanced to the quarterfinals of the inaugural FKF Women Cup after knocking out their respective opponents during the round of 16 matches played over the weekend.

Gaspo booked a spot in the quarters after thrashing Makolanders 7-0 on Sunday at the Ruiru Grounds.

Diana Wacera opened the scores for Gaspo before her counterpart Elizabeth Wambui and Vivian Aquino added two more goals for a comfortable 3-0 lead at the breather.

After the breather, Leah Andiema, Lavine Achola and a brace from Winnie Kanyotu sealed Gaspos’s emphatic 7-0 victory.

In Kisumu, Kisumu All Starlets had to dig deep and wait till post-match penalties to sail through the next stage of the cup competition. They defeated Trans Nzoia Falcons 5-4 in penalties after previously playing out to a 2-2 draw in regular time.

The same outcome was witnessed at Oserian Grounds in Nairobi where Bunyore Starlets knocked out Oserian Ladies 5-4 in penalties after a barren draw.

Neddy Okoth scored a hat-trick as Ulinzi Starlets advanced to the quarterfinals after they thumped FKF Women Division One side Sunderland Samba 5-0 at the Stima Members Club.

Neddy Okoth bagged a first half brace as her counterpart Everlyne Juma added one past Sunderland Samba giving Ulinzi Starlets a 3-0 lead at halftime.

Neddy competed her a hat-trick 10 minutes into the second half as Lucy Mukhwana made it 5-0 to progress to the next stage.

Kayole Starlet also booked a spot in the quarterfinals after drilling five goals past Mukuru Talent Academy in the second match of the doubleheader at the Stima Grounds.

Wadadia proceeded to the quarterfinals after edging SEP Oyugis 3-2 at the K’Otieno grounds.
