On Sunday afternoon, City academy stars Cole Palmer and Tommy Doyle - who recently made his first-team debut - posted tributes to the Malawi-born centre-back.

"You Will Be Forever Missed," Palmer wrote on Instagram alongside a series of pictures and videos of himself and Wisten.

"Fly High My Brother Rest In Paradise!"

And alongside an Instagram post, which included a picture of Wisten, Doyle wrote: "So sad. RIP brother."

Palmer posted another tribute to Wisten on his Instagram story, sharing a snap of the Malawian with the accompanying caption: "Jeremy Wisten, Rest In Peace."

Doyle's fellow City teammates Liam Delap, who has also recently made his first-team bow, and Morgan Rogers also paid tribute to Wisten, commenting on Palmer's post with heart emojis.

Wisten's family have yet to releas a statement on the former Altrincham Juniors FC ace's passing.

Wisten joined City's ranks in February 2016 after impressing scouts during a lengthy trial.

The youngster made multiple appearances for City's Select and Elite Academy squad's.

Wisten had high hopes for his City career and had ambitions of emulating club legend Vincent Kompany.

"Maybe Vincent Kompany," Wisten said when asked who he wanted to emulate.

"Just a bit better. With hard work, I can do it."
