FKF repeat elections held across counties

Football Kenya Federation (FKF) held its repeat county elections in nine counties across the country yesterday.

Caleb Malweyi, Francis Oliele and Hamisi Mwakoja were elected as chairmen for Nairobi West, Nakuru and Kwale counties respectively.

Malweyi beat Charles Njoroge 44-6 to clinch the post as Mwakoja saw off Juma Mwalivundo 5-2 in the Kwale race.

Oliele was voted unopposed in Nakuru and he will be deputised by Paul Kamau. Edmond Omungi is the new Nakuru Secretary General, while Peter Nderitu will serve as the treasurer.

Charles Kioko was elected as the Nairobi West Secretary General, while Josephat Karuri, Maureen Obonyo and Hannington Kimathi will serve as the treasurer, women representative and youth representative respectively.  

Oliele promised to offer good leadership that will see the vast Nakuru region produce more players for national teams.

“We are out to offer good leadership that should see us become a source of breeding ground to national football team,” said Oliele.

In Kwale, Hamisi Mwakoja clinched the county chairmanship post after flooring Salim Bambaulo.

Bakari Hamisi Zamu also defeated Juma Mwalivundo Gatiwi by five votes against two for the treasurer post, while the rest of officials were elected unopposed.

Shillingi Fumbwe, Alfani Fadili Kassim and Fatuma Ganiko will serve as the Secretary General, Youth representative and Women representative respectively.

The Kentice Tikolo-led Electoral Board is set to publish the final results, announced at every polling centre by the returning officer after tallying tomorrow.
