Former Harambee Stars midfielder Simon Mulama has landed a new a managerial role in a local club.

Mulama has been tasked to steer Kibera-based division two side Gogo Boys to the Kenya Premier league by 2023.

Gogo Boys will seek to capitalise on Mulama's vast experience as they seek advancement to the top tier of football in the country.

“We have faith in him (Mulama) to bring technical expertise that we have been missing for us to move to the FKF Division one,” said club patron, Dr Ahmed Kelebi.

The former midfield maestro ravishes the challenge and is hopeful the club will be promoted to the Kenya Premier League in future.

“I am honored to be part of Gogo Boys and for them to consider me for this role, it is possible, we have a good coach who has shown his abilities and the players respect him and I think we have the right environment to make it to the KPL,” said Mulama.

Gogo Boys are currently third on the Division Two League.

Whereas local clubs have struggled to attract sponsors, the Kibera-based side landed a new sponsorship deal with Pathologists Lancet Kenya. Their new sponsor, Pathologists Lancet Kenya CEO, Dr Ahmed Kelebi will be the club’s patron.

The club also confirmed their interim coach Wilberforce Kisira as their new head coach.

Kisira has been in charge of the team for the last three matches and has been the club’s assistant coach since 2017.

With two wins and one draw at the helm in a caretaker position, Kisira merited his confirmation as the club’s new head coach.

“This has come as a surprise, the agreement was for them to assess me after five matches,” an elated Kisira said.

He went ahead to thank the management for showing trust in him and for the opportunity to learn from Mulama.
