Malaga have suspended manager Victor Sanchez after a sexually explicit video was leaked online.

Sanchez, 43, is seen exposing himself in the X-rated footage, wearing a Malaga-branded t-shirt.

He claims he was being extorted with second-tier side Malaga conducting an investigation into the incident.

The former Spain and Real Madrid midfielder said: "I wish to inform that I am the victim of a crime against my privacy through harassment and extortion.

"The matter is in the hands of the police and I am following their instructions.

"In any case, I want to inform that sharing intimate content of any person without their consent is a crime, whether on social media or in any other way, according to Article 197 of the criminal code.

"There are sentences for those who share personal content without the consent of the affected person.

"Thanks for your understanding and support."

Sanchez came through the ranks at Real Madrid before becoming a first-team regular at the Bernabeu, helping the club win the Champions League in 1998.

He spent a large chunk of his career at Deportivo La Coruna.

Sanchez went on to manage the La Liga side and has also taken charge of Olympiacos and Real Betis, before being appointed Malaga boss in April last year.

A club statement confirmed: "In relation to the events that have recently been discovered, and which have not as yet been verified, Malaga CF immediately suspends coach Victor Sanchez del Amo from his duties until a full investigation is carried out.

"We will disclose further information once the facts have been clarified."

Malaga are 16th in the second division standings after 22 matches, a point above the relegation zone.
