The Manchester United midfielder has been sidelined with an ankle injury but attended his brother's wedding in France despite being ill.

Paul Pogba’s Manchester United return is clouded in confusion after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer claimed he was ill when he was attending his brother’s wedding in France.

Pogba has been out since the end of September with an ankle injury and Solskjaer claimed after Sunday’s draw with Everton that his comeback has been derailed because he has been sick.

The United boss claimed he had missed a few days’ training at Carrington because he was so poorly.

Despite his illness, Pogba was still able to celebrate his brother Florentin’s wedding back home in France on Friday.

The midfielder appeared to be fit and in good health in social media footage of him dancing with his brothers.

Solskjaer said: “Of all things, he’s struck down ill now. He’s been off for two or three days - three days probably - so that’s not beneficial. That’s probably set him back quite a bit.”

Pogba, 26, claimed he should be back “soon” when quizzed about his return when he was spotted walking his dogs near his Cheshire home on Monday.

Solskjaer claims he may have to ease Pogba back into action and is adamant the World Cup winner, who wanted to leave in the summer, remains a big part of his plans, despite United’s upturn in form without him in recent games.

“As I’ve said so many times, Paul’s a top, top player that we want to see playing his best football at Man United,” said the Norwegian.

“We can talk about Paul all day long and it’s games like Everton for example when you’re lacking that one creative pass or ideas maybe.

“He has that quality that not many midfielders in the world have so to get him back would be great.

“We just need to get him fit and match fit. It might be half an hour, 45 minutes, 60, 90 - who knows - in the first game. We’re working hard to get him back, but now he’s ill.
