Arsenal youngster Xavier Amaechi to join Hamburg

Arsenal have confirmed the exit of Xavier Amaechi.

The youngster has agreed a four-year deal with Bundesliga side Hamburg.

He joins Hamburg for a reported £2.25m plus performance-related add-ons, whilst the Gunners have a sell-on clause but no buy-back option on the winger.

In a statement released on the club's official website on Sunday, the Gunners thanked Amaechi for his contribution and wished him well on his move to Germany.

"Wishing you the best of luck with @HSV @XavierAmaechi," Arsenal said.

Amaechi, 18, was frustrated with his progress in north London.

However, he is regarded as one of the hottest prospects in English football, and was rumoured to also have the likes of Barcelona and Bayern Munich interested.

It is reported that he joined Hamburg in the pursuit of regular first-team football, and will be looking to emulate Jadon Sancho’s sensational spell in Germany.

The English winger, only had one year left on his Arsenal contract.
