Algeria’s form since the opening game of the African Cup of Nations has ensured that they enter the knockout stages of the competition among the front runners to win the whole tournament.

They will come up against Guinea in the round of 16 stage in what should be a comfortable fixture for Riyad Mahrez and co. Today, bet portal for Kenya 22BET offers their predictions for the upcoming game.

Algeria Form in Africa Cup of Nations so far

The Algerian side comes into their first knockout game in excellent form having won all three of their group games. This form has ensured that they are only one of three sides to boast a 100% record at this stage.

Their competition started with a comfortable 2-0 win over Kenya, with the goals scored in their opener by Riyad Mahrez and Baghdad Bounedijah.

They followed this success up with a 1-0 win over Sadio Mane’s Senegal. Mohamed Youcef Belaili scored the only goal of the game. It was a masterclass in defending a lead by the Algerians as they held off the threat from the pacey Senegalese side and very rarely looked troubled.

Algeria closed their group stage fixtures with an emphatic 3-0 win over Tanzania. Islam Silmani and a brace from Adam Ounas ensured that Algeria continued with their 100% record despite resting Mahrez.

The Manchester City man will be back in the line-up for their round of 16 clash, however, and that could spell trouble for Guinea.

Guinea Form

Guinea’s one win in their group stage campaign was enough to find themselves a route to the knockout stages of the AFCON. They finished in third place in Group B behind Madagascar and Nigeria.

They opened their campaign with a hard-fought 2-2 draw against the eventual group winners Madagascar.

Sory Kaba had initially put Guinea ahead, but quick-fire goals from their opponents required a 66th-minute equaliser from Francois Kamano to salvage a point.

Unfortunately for Guinea, they were unable to build on this momentum and lost their second game, as Kenneth Omeruo found the net in a 1-0 win for Nigeria.

However, they booked their spot in the next round with a 2-0 win over Burundi in their final group game.

A red card to Christophe Nduwarugira after 12 minutes ensured that Guinea played nearly 80 minutes against ten men. They made their dominance count with a brace from Mohamed Yattara.

Algeria VS Guinea prediction

Guinea really shouldn’t pose much of a problem for this vibrant Algeria side. The Guineans have already conceded an average of a goal a game and are rightly the 6.00 outsiders with 22BET.

The quality that Algeria has in the forward positions in Mahrez and Silmani will ensure their place in the quarterfinals.
