Kobala rule the roost in Homa Bay as Machakos Boys snatch football crown.

St Peter's Mumias are the new Kakamega County Secondary Schools boys under 19 football champions. 

The Saints, as they are fondly referred, edged out Emanani 1-0 in a county final match yesterday at Musingu High School. It was double joy for St Peter's who had retained their under 16 title after beating Koyonzo 2-1 in junior finals. 

Venedine Ambesa's 16th minute goal was enough to see the Saints lift the county trophy. St Peter's had launched their campaign on a high note thrashing Kakamega's Green Commandos 3-0. In the semis, they dismissed Kakamega Township 2-0 while Emanani beat Lugusi 2-1. St Peter's and Emanani booked their places in the Western region games where they will battle for ticket to this year's National Term Two games set for Kisumu next month.

St Peter's under 16 team coach Omondi Mango said they are looking to return to the nationals. "Consistency prepares a team to excel and that is why our main objective is to return to the nationals and win the trophy," said Mango. Last year, St Peter's came close but fell to St Anthony's to settle for second spot.

National and East Africa volleyball champions Kwanthanze yesterday extended their Machakos County reign after seeing off Vyulya. The final was a walk in the park for Kwanthanze as they eased to victory in straight sets of 25-10, 25-6 and 25-9. Muindi Mbingu were crowned boys' volleyball champions after beating Kibauni.

Machakos Boys triumphed in football, winning both titles. They beat Lukenya and Kisukioni in under 19 and 16 finals respectively. Mua Hills Materdei were crowned the girls' under 16 champions after beating I Can Fly 2-0 but their senior team were unlucky as they lost 0-1 to AIC Nyayo. 

Kobala ruled the Homa Bay County contest, winning the girls' under 16 and 19 titles as well as netball. The senior football team hammered Ototo Mixed 7-0 while the junior side saw off Got Kojowi 3-0. Simbi Mixed and Agoro Sare won the football under 19 and 16 after edging out Tom Mboya and God Oloo by an identical score of 1-0.
