Gary Lineker has labelled Lionel Messi "ridiculous" after the Barcelona star scored his twelfth goal in nine in all competitions on Saturday.

The Argentine is in sensational form at the moment and mounted a one-man comeback in Barcelona's 2-2 draw with Valencia, in which he netted both goals.

Barcelona went two goals behind in the first half at the Nou Camp after Kevin Gameiro and Daniel Parejo bagged for Valencia.

Messi halved the deficit from the penalty spot before the two teams went into the break. He then drew the game level in the second half as Barca boss Ernesto Valverde made three changes in a bid to come away with a win.

Barcelona were unable to find the all-important third goal, but Messi's man of the match performance certainly stole the plaudits.

Among them, long-time admirer of the Argentine, Gary Lineker tweeted: "Messi notched another two goals tonight.

"That's nine games on the bounce and all seven games that he's played in this year. Ridiculous."

Responding to the tweet, one fan joked: "Might have a chance at the Balon d'Or this year then," while another added: "Life's good when Messi is around. Man makes football look effortless."
