Argentina midfielder Leandro Paredes has completed a move from Russian side Zenit St Petersburg to French giants Paris St Germain.

Through a statement on the club’s official website, PSG confirmed Paredes has signed a four-year contract that ends June 2023.

“Paris Saint-Germain is pleased to announce the arrival in its workforce of Leandro Daniel Paredes. Arriving from Zenit St. Petersburg, the Argentine midfielder signed a four-and-a-half year contract with the club of the capital, until June 30, 2023, after his medical visit to Aspetar hospital, Doha,” read the first part of the statement.

Paredes scored 10 goals in 61 games for Zenit, delivering 16 assists.

After the transfer was completed and announced, Paredes revealed he was a proud man to join the perennial French champions.

"I feel a lot of pride when I reach Paris Saint-Germain. After my previous experiences in Italy and Russia, I now have this fantastic opportunity, not only to discover a new football but especially one of the most prestigious jerseys in the world. I thank the president and coach for the trust they place in me by recruiting me,” said Paredes.

PSG President Nasser Al-Khelaifi also described the abilities Paredes would bring into the team.

“Leandro carries with him the traditional strengths of Argentinian football, a combativeness of all times and very good technical qualities. He will bring a lot to our midfielder and I am sure he will quickly blend into the well-organized and ambitious collective of our coach. The arrival of Leandro will maintain, in the field and among our supporters, this dynamic that brings us to the big deadlines that await us,” said Al-Khelaifi.
