Gor Mahia coach gets early gift

Gor Mahia coach Dylan Kerr has got himself an early Christmas gift after being named the Kenyan Premier League coach of the month for September courtesy of Fidelity Insurance and Sports Journalists Association of Kenya.
The Briton led a perfect month for K’Ogalo, recording five victories and a draw that earned them their 16th record league title with five games to spare.
Gor began with a 3-1 victory over Bandari, then beat Sofapaka 2-1 before silencing deposed champions Tusker 2-0.
They continue with their remarkable form, thrashing Chemelil Sugar (3-0) and Nzoia Sugar (4-0) before sharing the spoils with Thika United in a barren draw.
Kerr, who recently encrypted a club’s logo tattoo on his left leg, re-affirmed his commitment to Gor Mahia after he was unanimously voted by the panelists trouncing Kakamega Homeboyz’ Mike Mururi.

“I’m not going anywhere. I have a commitment to Gor Mahia and my focus is on building the team for next year’s CAF Champions League and another premier league medal. We have worked hard this season and will definitely put in more effort to perform better,” said Kerr after receiving the award at Camp Toyoyo yesterday.
“The players are a responsive lot willing to learn new things and implement game plans. They have won me this award.
“It has taken combined effort from the players, staff and club officials for Gor Mahia to play how it did and we can only get better. We have identified players and areas to strengthen so we are due to sit down as a club and make decisions - the right ones for next season’s busy schedule.”
Elsewhere, Kakamega Homeboyz talisman Jeremiah Wanjala has expressed his delight after winning the Kenyan Premier League Player of the Month for September.
Wanjala, who scored twice and provided three assists to help Homeboyz garner eleven points in five league matches and move up to the second place on the table, beat Gor Mahia's Meddie Kagere and Kariobangi Sharks' Masoud Juma.
"We are greatly under-privileged as a team since we lack sponsors but we still put in the hard work. I'm grateful to God," said Wanjala.
