Atletico 'close in on Costa'

Atletico Madrid are closing in on a deal to sign Diego Costa from Chelsea.

The Evening Standard reports that the two clubs look set to agree on a fee of around £41million.

Costa will not be able to play for the Spanish club until 2018, however, as they are currently under a transfer embargo.

Atletico have yet to find a club to loan him until their transfer ban is lifted in January but they can sign him but just cannot play him.

Costa is currently in a stand-off with the Premier League champions and there is little chance of boss Antonio Conte accepting him back into the fold.
