Gor Mahia shrug off Nakumatt, Tusker in tie
Kerr is in their first league win as champions Tusker and in-form Sharks are held.
Gor Mahia are back to the top of the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) after edging out Nakumatt 2-0 at Nyayo Stadium on Sunday.
Gor now have 31 points with a match in hand as they handed new coach Dylan Kerr the perfect start.
Eugene Ambulwa scored an own goal in the fifth minute, handing Gor the opener. George Odhiambo scored the second in the 88th minute.

“I want to praise the players for their brave defending. After we scored the first goal, Nakumatt were very dangerous but we cleared very well and it worked,” said Kerr.
Kariobangi Sharks were held to a 1-1 tie by Zoo Kericho in an exciting match. It was a derby of sorts for the two sides who just a year ago were sworn rivals in the National Super League (NSL).
Sharks were the more dominant side, showing hunger from the word go and inspired by their recent good form in the league.
Paul Kamau’s well struck free kick in the early moments of the match went just over the bar as Sharks started their search for goals.
Nicholas Kipkurui looked dangerous for the visitors and it took a hard tackle from Michael Bodo to contain him. Bodo was booked for that tackle.
Duke Abuya then looped over the bar with the match headed towards the break. It was the best chance for Sharks to go ahead, and they did in the 49th minute, when Ebrima Sanneh headed home the opener.
The Kericho side were, however, not giving up. Second half substitute Danson Namasakha netted the equaliser with his first touch of the ball in the 69th minute after coming on for Kepha Ondati.
After that it could have gone either way as both teams fought hard to get ahead.
In Meru, champions Tusker came from a goal down to pick a point against Posta Rangers in a match that ended 1-1.
Dennis Mukhaisi put Rangers ahead in the sixth minute before Benson Muchiri saved Tusker the blushes with a 30th minute goal.
