Giorgio Chiellini was lucky to stay on the pitch after his elbow collided with Radamel Falcao as Juventus beat Monaco 2-0 in the Champions League.

The Italy centre-back was booked after the incident as the Colombian dropped to the ground, but many think he should have been red carded.

The incident was discussed after the game by the BT Sports panel, and Glenn Hoddle was convinced Chiellini should have been given his marching orders.

When asked whether the Italian was lucky to stay on the pitch during Juventus' first leg semi-final win, he replied: "Without a doubt, without a doubt.

"I can't understand if the referee has seen it how he has not given a red card."

Lineker then asked Hoddle whether he believes the Italy centre-back has purposefully attempted to harm the forward.

He added: "Yes, I do. If you watch it in slow motion, I do. You see the elbow movement towards the player and if you see that, it's a red.

"We don't want to see that in the game, do we?"

Hoddle wasn't alone in his assessment of the tough challenge, as many angry fans took to social media to condemn Chiellini's actions.
