Vincent Kompany granted Manchester City fan his dying wish, according to the Sun.

Kompany made a surprise visit to life-long City supporter David Burns, 74, from Wythenshawe. Burns is diagnosed with throat cancer and has been told there is nothing that can be done to save him.

Burns had told his family that his dream before his death would be to meet some of his Man City heroes.

His family then made an emotional appeal to the club. And then the dream became a reality today, when Kompany visited him at his home.

The defender took time out from training to make 100 mile journey to Chester to visit the sick fan.

Kompany spent more than an hour sat on the sofa chatting to ‘gobsmacked’ David about his favourite City memories and players from years gone-by.

His wife Christine, 58, said: “It was unbelievable.

“His face when he first realised who it was just amazing. He couldn’t believe it.

“He said ‘Hello David’ and sat down next to him. They were chatting for ages.

“He was asking who his favourite City players were from his youth and was teaching Vinnie about some of them.

“He was such a nice guy, so lovely.

“I was in tears seeing them together as I knew how much it meant to him.”

Vincent Kompany described himself as 'by far the happiest footballer on earth' after he completed 90 minutes in Manchester City's 3-0 FA Cup victory at Crystal Palace in January.

The Premier League giants progressed to the fifth round with a convincing performance, but Kompany's first appearance since suffering his most recent injury - also against Palace at Selhurst Park - felt equally significant.
