Arsenal are set to find out today if Alexis Sanchez will be fit to face Manchester United.

Star forward Sanchez will be assessed by Arsenal's medical staff when he returns to the club's London Colney HQ.

He gave the Gunners a scare during the international break when he missed Chile's draw against Colombia with a thigh injury.

Worried boss Arsene Wenger claimed it would be a "suicidal decision" for Chile to risk him in their second game of the international break against Uruguay.

But Chile ignored Wenger's concerns and Sanchez shrugged off the problem to start against Uruguay and scored twice in a 3-1 win.

Sanchez emerged from the game unscathed after coming off in the 84th minute.

The Gunners are optimistic he will be fit for Saturday's lunchtime trip to Old Trafford.

But they will wait until they have performed their own checks on Sanchez and know how his injury has reacted before making a call on his fitness.
