Ryan Giggs has taken on a punditry role with ITV for the remainder of Euro 2016.

The 42-year-old is expected to depart Manchester United this summer following Jose Mourinho's arrival.

Giggs was assistant boss to Louis van Gaal and while Mourinho hopes he will stay, the role on offer is a reduced one.

And Giggs' future has been thrown into further doubt after he signed up with ITV, reports the Manchester Evening News.

He is now set to be part of ITV’s coverage of the Euros in France despite United’s pre-season training being scheduled to start next week.

An ITV statement said: “Ryan Giggs will join the ITV Euro 2016 line up as the tournament reaches the quarter-final stage.

"Ryan will take up a role as a pundit in ITV’s Paris studio base alongside presenter Mark Pougatch, Lee Dixon, Ian Wright and others to lend his wealth of expertise and insight to the channel’s coverage of the remaining stages of the tournament.

“His first match will be ITV’s live coverage of Poland v Portugal on Thursday.”
