Liverpool's Daniel Sturridge overtakes Wayne Rooney for domestic goals, Twitter trolls go wild

Though it's been a difficult season for Daniel Sturridge so far, he certainly had a decent game this evening.

The Liverpool striker has only just recovered from yet another frustrating injury lay off, yet he scored two very well-taken goals to help The Reds ease past Southampton in tonight's Capital One Cup quarter-final at St Mary's. It'll certainly give him confidence in his fight to stay fit and firing for the rest of the campaign.

However, his goals might well have precisely the opposite effect on Wayne Rooney.

We've got no idea whether the Manchester United striker tuned in to watch his club's rivals demolish the Saints, but he only has to take a glance at his Twitter to realise that he's being brutally trolled right now. The reason for the mockery is that, despite his repeated lay offs over the last few months, Sturridge has now scored more domestic goals (4) than The Red Devils' star man (3).
