Southampton’s Victor Wanyama has bid farewell to former midfield partner Morgan Schneiderlin in what seems like added confirmation of the French midfielder departure.

Schneiderlin, 25, has signed for a fee of around £24million and jetted off with his new United team-mates today for the club's two-and-a-half week pre-season tour of the US.

“Two years playing alongside you was a short time but we achieved a lot together,” Wanyama wrote.

“I wish you all the best in your new challenge. You deserve it.”

Wanyama and Schneiderlin  formed a formidable partnership in Southampton's midfield last season as the club punched well above its weight for the previous two seasons.

The Dutch boss has already secured Memphis Depay, Matteo Darmian and Bastian Schweinsteiger as his side looks to challenge for the league title next season.
