Former international Simon Mulama walked out of the under-23 team before last Friday's Africa Youth Championships match against Botswana away.
The former midfielder is reported to have sent a message to Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Secretary General Michael Esakwa announcing his resignation from the team.
A source in the under-23 team confirmed that Mulama pulled out of the squad a few hours before they were scheduled to travel to Botswana.
"He sent an SMS to Esakwa informing him that he has a lot of unresolved issues and was therefore stepping down from his position in the team. This happened even after he had been issued with a travelling ticket," said the source.
When contacted, Mulama however denied he has resigned and insisted he is still with the team though he did not know when they would resume training for the return match of the Africa Youth Championships. "I am still with the team. I have not gone anywhere," he said.
