Man United’s Juan Mata congratulates Hazard for winning the PFA Player of the Year award

Manchester United’s Juan Mata has congratulated his friend Eden Hazard after he won the PFA Player of the Year award on Sunday.

Chelsea's Belgium forward won England's PFA player of the year award ahead of Tottenham Hotspur's Harry Kane and Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea.

 Mata enjoyed a close relationship with Hazard during their time together at Chelsea before he decided to move to Manchester United.

On his personal blog, Mata wrote: "I would like to congratulate my friend David de Gea for his inclusion in the PFA Team of the Year.

"It’s a reward for his great season and a recognition to his skills.

"And I also congratulate my friend Eden Hazard, who was named Player of the Year."

Mata also praised former United team-mate Javier Hernandez for his performance for Real Madrid, where he in on loan for the season.

"A great performance from Chicharito," Mata wrote.

"He is a good friend of mine and I’m happy that he is scoring goals in the last few games.

"He deserves every good thing that happens to him."
