Former AFC Leopards coach James Nandwa said he is now ready for another stab at top flight football. Nandwa was relieved of his duties at Ingwe early this year over poor results and has been away from the Premier League since then. He also lost his job as Harambee Stars’ assistant coach. He told kpl.co.ke he has kept himself occupied with several personal activities, but he is now raring to make a return to the pressure cooker job of managing a club. “I have been out of circulation this year because of what happened, but I am now eager to get back to pressures and the demands,” he said. —KPL.com

FOOTBALL: Matasi ready for Rangers challenge

Former AFC Leopards goalkeeper Patrick Matasi says he will fit well at his new team Posta Rangers. He said his transition to the newly elevated side will not be a big issue and promised to give his goalkeeping comrades a run for their money. “I respect my teammates in the goalkeeping position led by Ian Otieno, Victor Omondi and Boniface Barasa. The competition will be stiff, but I will work hard to maintain my form. I’m joining a team that is full of experienced and ambitious players,” observed Matasi. FOOTBALL: Olunga at SuperSport United for trials

Thika United striker Michael Olunga is currently attending trials with South African top-tier side Supersport United. The highly-rated forward has been in South Africa for a week now and is hopeful of penning a deal. “I am really working hard and the Head Coach, Gordon Igesund, is impressed with my ability, but says I have to improve my fitness level,” Olunga said. “I scored a brace in a friendly (against Sundowns) on Wednesday and I am happy with that,” he added.
