Roy Keane blasts Jose Mourinho for play mind games

Villa boss Paul Lambert refused to shake Mourinho's hand before the end of the match at Stamford Bridge

Roy Keane has launched a new attack on Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho insisting: “I don’t need to use you to sell my book”.

Keane has also accused the Special One of playing too many mind games for a man with a £300million squad at his disposal.

The Aston Villa assistant manager, who has savaged the Special One for attempting to shake hands before the end of the Blues’ Premier League win over the Villans last month, said: “How would that sell books?

"He thinks I am going to sell a book on the back of that?

“I saw his response the other day and I thought he had a week to prepare his answer. I thought he would have come up with a better answer than that because I am sure he would have had people telling him what might need to be said. But I would say exactly the same again.

“It has nothing to do with the book. You shake hands with someone at the end of the game. I think it was disgraceful. But do you think I am some robot on a PR trip to sell books.

“If people want to shake my hand before the end of the game, whether it is Brendan Rodgers or Roberto Martinez, I’d say no. I think most people think the same.”

Keane has also suggested Mourinho uses psychology far too often for a man with such an expensively-assembled squad.

He said: “He plays too many mind games. But that’s fine. That’s up to himself. He’ll argue all day that he can back it up with trophies.

“Of course he can. But it helps when you've got players worth £300million.”
