Oboya joins Gor as KPL clubs rush for last minute signings

The Kenyan Premier League (KPL) transfer window closed on Sunday night with big signings on the last day of the activity, as expected.

Gor Mahia netted former international midfielder Patrick Oboya in a bid to stabilise their midfield.

Oboya will join the club on a short term deal of six months before returning to his Vietnam Thanh Hao club in December.

Gor will, however, have to wait a little longer before using their prized possession as his International Transfer Certificate (ITC) is yet to be processed.

A delighted Oboya said he is happy with the move, which he says will help him return back to his previous form as a terror in the middle of the pack, a reputation that earned him a place in the national team Harambee Stars.

He began his professional career nine years ago but has largely spent the last one year nursing an injury.

Apart from Oboya, Gor have also signed Paul Odhiambo (Homeboyz), Joel Bataro (Thika United), Eric Ochieng’ (Bandari), Joseph  Wanyonyi (Aspire Academy), Ronald Okoth (Methodist University), Ali Abdalla (Coast United) and Roni Okumu (Tena).

Another big signing in the transfer window is that of Ugandan international Dan Wagaluka, who has joined AFC Leopards.

Wagaluka was previously at Ugandan club Soana. He joins other big signings at the club like Peter Opiyo (Tusker), Juma Abdalla (Sofapaka), Michael Khamati (Administration Police) and Mohamed Sadaq (Local government).
